CAMP WEST


BACKGROUND CHECK FOR STAFF

GENERAL

  • CAN I BE WITH MY KIDS IF I'M NOT STAFF?

    Camp West welcomes parents to all of the church services. However, due to liability and the best interest of the staff, non-volunteers are not permitted to be on the grounds other than at service times (unless authorized by the Sr. Camp principal). If the child requires special attention, provisions may be made through the camp principal.

  • WHEN IS THE FIRST MONDAY MEAL?

    The first meal on Monday will be dinner scheduled for 5:30 PM. You will need to provide lunch on your own for that day.

  • WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO CAMP?

    Besides the normal clothing and toiletries, you will need to bring bedding. (See packing list)

  • WHERE DO WE CHECK IN?

    Check in at Gate 3 located on the west side of the Monterey County Fairgrounds. 

  • WHEN IS CHECK IN/ CHECK OUT?

    Check-in begins Monday at 12:00 pm. Check-out begins Friday at 8:00 am.


CAMPERS

  • WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

    For a list of dress requirements see (Camp Guidelines)


  • HOW DO WE DRESS FOR CHURCH?

    For Seniors: The day services are casual and the night services are dressy.


    For Juniors: The day services are normal day wear and night services are casual but dressy is OK.

  • WHAT ARE THE SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS?

    There are four dormitory buildings (Jr. Boys, Jr. Girls, Sr. Boys, Sr. Girls) All dorms are open-floor style. Each camper is responsible to bring their own bedding (see packing list).


    It is recommended to bring a cot, air mattress (twin size only), or cushion foam.

  • WHAT ARE THE AGE REQUIREMENTS?

    Jr. Camp: Ages 7-12 (must be 7 by June 23)


    Sr. Camp: Ages 12-21 (must be 12 by June 23)


    (12 year-olds may choose either camp)

  • WHAT ARE THE TOTAL COSTS?

    Early registration = $220. Normal registration = $240


    You can also optionally pre-pay any amount for the snack bar (recommended)


    Plus whatever travel costs there may be such as meals to and from Camp West.

  • WHAT IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND?

    All campers must be of age, have their pastor’s approval, pay the registration fee and agree to follow the camp guidelines. (see camp guidelines)


STAFF

  • HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND AS STAFF?

    Currently there is no fee for volunteers. Volunteers must understand that, in the event our sleeping area becomes full, they may have to stay offsite at their expense or bring an RV or tent to park on the fairgrounds.

  • HOW OLD TO BE A COUNSELOR?

    Junior Counselors must be 22 years old

    Senior Counselors must be 25 years old

  • WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO ATTEND AS STAFF?

    All staff must be Holy Ghost filled, baptized in Jesus name and be at least 22 years of age (at least 25 years of age for Senior Counselors) and must have their pastor’s approval. Applying and pastor’s approval does not guarantee placement. You may apply here.
